After a cold and early morning start, things started to heat up with lots of sunshine and happy faces on the water. Good heats in strong wind could be finished until the quarter final when some heats had to be canceled due to dropping choppy winds. We couldn’t see that many double moves for the same reason but competitors were doing an incredible job. Poor Rick Jendrusch advanced pretty far but managed to dislocate his shoulder – again! – after he had only been back on the water for 2 months.
Lots of our little spectators used the opportunity to get a poster signed from their idols at the autograph session during lunch time until the games were continued.
It was amazing to see how much fun everybody had on the water during the first competition day, especially the kids who got eliminated pretty early, but wouldn’t let that stop them from windsurfing all afternoon.
The 13 year-old Greek-German Lennart Neubauer sailed one heat in the Single Elimination here in Brouwersdam:
The heat area is really nice, it’s big and you have a lot of space to do your move. For me it was really good, I was one heat further from the last rankings in the EFPT. I lost then against Julian Wiemar but I still had a really good heat, it was fun!
SARAH QUITA OFFRINGA AND JACOPO TESTA WIN SINGLE ELIMINATION
Freestyle Queen Sarah Quita Offringa won the first elimination of the women against the strong local contestant Maaike Huvermann, Arianne Aukes making third place. The men’s final was an Italian match between Jacopo Testa and Giovanni Passani, Jacopo conquering first place of the podium. Amado Vrieswijk made it to third place after beating Antoine Albert in the Loser’s Final. See the full details of the first Single Elimination ladders for men and women at EFPT.NET
The Double Elimination was started late afternoon and to be finished tomorrow on another exciting day at the DAM-X Event.
There’s going to be lots of other action alongside the Freestyle competition including the spectacular Friday Night Event so STAY TUNED!
